Cruises have been gaining popularity in recent years. If you visit the office of Holiday Hypermarket or any other travel agency, you will definitely find a selection of cruise options. The diversity of destinations on such a journey is astounding. A Crete cruise can open up the different sites of the island: the small but elegant Aghios Nikolaios with its neat beaches, the energetic Chania and its nightlife, the Venetian fortress at Spinalonga, and the mystical Minoan palace at Knossos. However, Crete cruises often go beyond the shores of the island and might encompass the Mediterranean resorts of Greece, Turkey, and even Spain.
A stop at Benidorm might be a part of the itinerary. This town, located on the south-eastern coast of Spain, has become one of the kingdom’s most famous tourist hubs. It is possible to hear many different languages in the town in one day; Benidorm attracts visitors from across the whole of Europe. Aside from sunny weather and sandy beaches, the town has become known for its entertainment; the city’s numerous clubs are full during evenings. However, many travellers, especially those with children, seek a calmer way to spend their time in Benidorm. A popular attraction among this category of visitors is the Terra Natura Wildlife Park.
Terra Natura has a vast collection of flora and fauna specimens from around the world. The wildlife park is divided into four main sections; three are recreations of natural habitats (South America, Asia, and Mediterranean Europe) while the fourth one consists of collection of poisonous snakes and insects. Each section is populated by fauna and vegetation native to the thematic area. The visitor has a chance to explore each habitat on foot and come into contact with the animals that dwell in the park. Smaller types of fauna run freely across their sections; big animals and predators are, naturally, segregated but can be seen easily. Some of the most popular animals are elephants, tigers, and rhinos in the Asian section, the South American jaguars and llamas, and the different types of birds flying over the heads of visitors. Each section also has additional decorations that gives the place more realism; the Mayan ruins stand amidst the Section American section; Hindu ruins can be found in the Asian one; the Mediterranean section contains Ancient Greek ruins. Each section also has its own ‘village’ built in local style where the visitor can take a break and have lunch.
The park offers extra activities. It is possible to go on a donkey ride in the Mediterranean Europe section. Another possible option is zooming on a flying fox over the elephant-populated area. All of this makes Terra Natura an exciting way of spending a day in Benidorm.
Benidorm is one of the destinations that agencies like Holiday Hypermarket add to Crete cruises in other to show the true diversity of the Mediterranean.
